ASUU denies plans to embark on strike on October 2nd September 14, 2016 12:05 PM — Linda Ikeji The Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, has denied media reports saying it was planning to embark on a one-week warning strike. The News Agency of Nigeria NAN yesterday quoted the Chairman of the University of Abuja chapter of ASUU, Ben Ugheoke, as saying the union will on October 2nd embark on a one week warning strike to press home their demands fro the full implementation of the 2009 agreements they had with the Federal government.  In an interview with Premiumtimes today, Ugheoke denied making such an announcement in an interview he granted a NAN reporter.  “A certain reporter in NAN is responsible for this damage. As a result of this falsified report, I am facing a panel later tonight from ASUU National body. I have reached out to the NAN reporter and he told me it was a mix-up. He also begged me to save his job. We have never given a date for any form of strike, whether war

Graphic photos: Mother of a set of triplet murdered in Rivers state September 13, 2016 1:09 PM — Linda Ikeji A mother of a set of triplet simply identified as Mrs Amadi was murdered at her home in Rumuekini a community in Obio-Akpor of Rivers state on Saturday September 10th. According to Facebook user, Theophilus Utchaychukwu who shared the story, the woman was murdered while her husband, Mboy Amadi, was out to watch a football match at a viewing center.  A yet to be identified person entered his house and stabbed the woman while she was in bed asleep with her daughter. The little girl woke up to notice a warm sticky fluid dripping and discovered it was her poor mother's blood. Photos/Video: Boko Haram members release new video, threaten President Buhari September 14, 2016 12:00 PM — Linda Ikeji Boko Haram members have released a new video in which they say they plan to capture President Buhari. The 12 minutes 58 seconds video was shared on Youtube. The narrator spoke in Hausa language and showed suspected terrorists doing their Eid prayers on Monday September 12th.  “This is our eid prayer from us and by the support of our leader Imam Abubakar Al-Shekau. We are extending our greetings to our people and fighters. Message to the infidels and the leader of the entire infidels (kafir) who is the President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari, that he should know we are very strong and doing very good.
